Tanqueray and Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water

One of my favorite cocktails is a gin and tonic.  Simple to make, yet so refreshing.  The gin that I use most often is Tanqueray.  Tanqueray gin was originally distilled in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray in the Bloomsbury district of London.  In 2016 Tanqueray displaced Beefeater as the top global seller.  The United States of America is the largest consumer of Tanqueray followed by Southern Europe.  I think this gin is the perfect combination of juniper berries and other botanicals.

I personally skip the slice of lime and use lime juice instead.  I like to use a key lime juice to give it a little bit more tartness.  Next, We add the tonic water.  Tonic water was first made by British soldiers in East India in the early 19th century as a way to consume quinine to fight of malaria.  Due to the quinine being extremely bitter, it was hard to drink, even when mixed with water or soda.  That’s when the British decided to drink it with gin, creating one of the most famous and easiest cocktails to this day.  I prefer Fever Tree Indian tonic water.  It has great flavor, comes in a single serving can and I love their slogan. “If ¾ of your drink is the mixer, mix with the best”.  Although I like mine to be ½ or less mixer.  So, the next time you are craving a refreshing cocktail on a hot day, give this one a shot.  You will not be disappointed.
