Scorpion Cocktail

In keeping with our recent island theme, here is another tropical drink to try as a refreshing end to a long week.  The Scorpion cocktail is said to have been invented in the 1930’s at a little bar in Honolulu named the “Hut”.  So many amazing flavors seem to have their roots in the islands.  Evidently, that tropical air stirs the creative juices and encourages people to try new things!  There are many versions of the Scorpion around the world and it is served in Tiki bars and Chinese restaurants in the U.S. to this day. This drink is a delicious combination of orange and pineapple juice, and lemon juice, orgeat syrup (a sweet almond syrup), with three different types of rum, gin, and vodka, and is garnished with cherries and pineapple. It’s not only beautiful, but is STRONG!  Be careful–these will sneak up on you! Don’t get (too) stung by the Scorpion! Cheers and enjoy!
