Happy Friday, everyone! Today, we are discussing another wonderful Fall cocktail–the Pear Elderflower Martini. This cocktail is so refreshing and tasty with an amazing sweet, yet tart flavor. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love pears! For this cocktail, I use Absolut pear vodka. You can use any pear vodka, whatever your favorite brand may be, but Absolut is a very good choice. The next ingredient should not be substituted–St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur. This liqueur is French, made with Elderflowers that are only picked once a year. It takes up to 1,000 Elderflower blossoms for every bottle of this liqueur—that’s a lot of flowers! The flavor of the liqueur melds with the pear vodka in the best possible way. Another ingredient to talk about is simple syrup. Of course, you can use store-bought or home-made simple syrup, but using a pear simple syrup enhances the flavor of the cocktail even more.
For the pear simple syrup, chop up one pear and place it in a saucepan. To the chopped pear, add one cup of sugar, one and one half cups of water, and bring it all to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for about five minutes. Use a masher to mash the pears into the syrup, then let it cool. Then, strain it and the flavored simple syrup is ready to use.
To make the cocktail, add ice to a cocktail shaker, followed by the pear vodka, St. Germaine liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake until ice cold, strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with a pear sliced 1/8-1/4 inch thick, horizontally. Enjoy!
