Voodoo Juice Cocktail

Here’s another delicious rum cocktail for the beach. On our recent trip to St. John USVI, we stayed at the Westin St. John Resort Villas. Every morning, we’d head out to different beaches on the island to snorkel, visit a ruin (Annaburg sugar plantation rocks!), or just explore. Every afternoon, we’d come back and head to the pool for some rest and relaxation. Luckily, there was this great little restaurant right next to the pool called Snorkel’s Bar and Grill. They have amazing little appetizers like potstickers, onion rings, fries, and a whole menu of other options that are delicious. One of our favorite things about this restaurant next to the pool was this huge drink that came in a bucket called Voodoo Juice. Voodoo Juice supposedly originated at Iggie’s Beach Bar in Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas USVI.  Let me tell you, when I first heard the name I knew I had to try it.

Voodoo Juice is an amazing concoction of citrus rum, banana rum, coconut rum, pineapple rum, orange juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and a dark rum floater, garnished with maraschino cherries and orange slices. The only thing to worry about with this drink in St. John was that the local wild iguanas LOVE fruit, so if you dropped ANY garnish, expect an iguana to appear in short order to devour it—even IN the pool!  My mom was with us on this trip and had her nails painted a candy apple red color.  She had to keep an eye on the iguanas to make sure they didn’t do more than look at her hands as they sure watched her closely, thinking she was holding cherries!

We absolutely loved Voodoo Juice!  It was delicious, so I knew this would be a cocktail that I would add to my menu when I went home. I highly recommend turning to this cocktail anytime you want to get away and feel the island vibes. Hope you enjoy!
